Shield Epoxy Removal

Got this guy as a user and I've mostly cleaned it up except there seems to be some excess glue around the bottom of the shield. I assume it came this way from the manufacturer. Is there a way to safely remove this? I'm thinking of taping up the shield and dabbing the overflow of glue with acetone. Or should I just leave it be? Thanks.

I would just leave it be but if you want to remove the epoxy then I would dip a Q-Tip in lacquer thinner and use that to try wiping the epoxy off. The caveat is it may also affect the finish on the wood. I used to do this to remove epoxy from stone so I do have experience with it, and it should only take 3-5 wipes if your epoxy is like mine. I like lacquer thinner better than acetone as it doesn't evaporate as fast and will dissolve the epoxy in a controllable manner when it is that thin. I think anything that will remove epoxy will also remove the finish on the wood. No need to mask the metal, in fact, the solvent may cause problems with the adhesive used in masking.

Ah ok, I think I'll just leave it as is. Thanks for the info!
