Hi I have a Case 6318 SS with an oval shield, which looks like a partial American flag on each end of the shield and shield says
CASE
MADE IN USA
In the middle of shield. Each tip of shield is blue with 3 dots on each side then two red lines that come to meet the word CASE on the shield. I can't find this shield anywhere. Any help would be appreciated. I have pics but don't know how to upload. Any help

Yes that is the shield but I'm unable to find it on my particular pattern. We'll at least I know it's out there and real but can't find it on the 6318. Any idea the reason behind it? Most of my Case XX are Tested up through 1980, this is one of the few newer ase knives I've acquired.
Thanks

I’m not an expert on Case. I just know they have done limited runs of different shield designs. Not surprising that some are hard to find pictures of online. A Case expert might be able to tell from the box and tang stamp approximately when yours was made. My uneducated guess based on the tang stamp is it’s a relatively recent production.

These were apparently a limited edition shield in 2004, there were apparently 8 patterns -

The little toothpick above.

Your 6318.

The saddlehorn - https://www.allaboutpocketknives.co...e-usa-shield-saddle-horn-pattern-t-b-62110-ss .

Seahorse - https://www.hersandhistreasures.com...ahorse-whittler-with-honey-brown-bone-handles .

I can't find the others. Maybe ask - http://www.shephills.com/P2S.asp?BrandName=1010 , they've been the biggest retailer of Case limiteds the last 25 years, they might remember.

No this is definitely a 1978 grey scroll from the 1976 grey scroll stag set except it is 2 dots stamping Case XX USA and shield from the 70's, my confusion is 1978 should have a Case red etche on the main blade like the others I have 2 dot 1978's except this is a 2 dot with grey etching on the master blade which should from my collector experience be a 4 dot 1976. The shield is the double oval shield from that time period.

I've been collecting mint Case knives for years and the stamping is Case
XX
U.S.A.
with 2 dots under the U.S.A. this woukd be a 70's knife. The dotting system began in 1970 with the 10 dot usually the most valuable then counted backwards so a 72 would be an 8 dot, a 75 a 5 dot and 79 1dot. They continued this into the 80's but instead of a regular S they made the what is known as today the lightning s aka zig-zag S. I know my knife is a 1978 but the etching on the blade should be red scroll not grey scroll like the 1976 stag set. This is what really confuses me. I'm pretty good at everything Case related but no clue on this. All I know is it's a 1978 knife. It's no newer than that. I only collect up to 1980 10 dot all the way to 1920-40 Case tested in mint condition. Just wish I could find the answer lol

Trying to figure out how, sorry new this site. Thanks
