Here is an old Lion Cutlery (Sheffield) four-blade pen knife with a neat shield. Not something you see every day. I saw this on flea-bay a couple weeks ago.

Would love to see pics of other knives with unusual or not-often-seen shields..............or really any kind of shield for that matter!!

Show 'em if you got 'em!!

That one is cool. Never seen one like that.

Now I gotta look through my older stuff to see what I have that might be unusual.

Pappy,

Just saved this one in my classic slippy photo file. I really love this very unique shield & bolster look. :D

Thanx,

Anthony

Twas just thinking I'd bet those bolsters were a real beech to fit!
Sweet shield though...

I really enjoy the elegance in this knife. The bolsters complement the shield wonderfully.

I really like the shield. For some reason, it reminds me of a mustache.

The bolsters are great. I've never seen ones like that before. They complement the shield well.

I kinda of like it --they are just like the bolsters

Hey, now that would make an interesting shield. A nice handlebar mustache shield. I'd get one.

Here is another shield on an old knife that you don't see very often.
This is an old antique Northfield.

I've seen this called a "cloud" shield, which I think is a good name for it. I like it -- of the larger "fancy" shields, this one manages to not be *too* distracting/overpowering - and on a swellcenter equal end knife like this, it's the perfect choice to harmonize with its lines.

I like this shield.

I need to design a shield of my own. I am hoping to see some other examples on this thread.

I like that shield too.

It's neat to see some of the less commonly used shield patterns.

Here's an Empire jack that was up on the Bay a couple weeks ago - saved off a couple images of the shield - pretty sweet variant of a bar shield:

I really like this one - a bit of interest without overwhelming the rest of the knife.

This is one of mine - American Knife Co Plymouth - pre-1875 slim jack. It's a sweet pattern, but I really got it for the shield treatment:

An old EC Simmons Keen Kutter fancy jack (not mine) with what I call a sceptre shield, one of my favorite shields:

What a great idea for a thread, Pappy. Most of those I'm not familiar with. I'd love to know names of all of them, especially the first shield. That one is really unique!
