Hello. Heres one I made for a client.

245mm tip to heel, 3mm thick spine, above heel. Tapering to the tip. 56mm tall at the heel.

The blade is San mai Carbon damascus over a 1095 carbon core.

Handle is cross cut mammoth ivory, Stabilized. and a piece of Stabilized Koa from Mark at Burl Source.

Rounded spine and choil.

Thanks for looking. Comments welcomed.

God Bless
Randy

Damn that is a friggin' beautiful knife! The thin contrast lines on the handle pair really well with the thin fold lines on the damascus and they compliment each other and are much more pronounced and proportional than one on its own. Also, the wood is the perfect color to match with the damascus as it is neither so dark it overpowers the damascus and it makes the damascus lines look faint, or so light it that the eyes immediately fixate to the blade and overlook the handle completely and miss the extensive fold lines. The handle and the blade are paired like a hand and a glove or or a good cab with pasta or different instruments producing sounds that are in sync to form a single song.

If you don't mind my asking, how long does something like that take to make? It HAD to have been a ridiculously long process?!?! Heck, just picking out a pretty piece of wood like that, and then working it to the point where it finishes at a point which highlights all of the features you wanted to is a very time-consuming process!

Also, how does San Mai carbon damascus compare to something like solid 1095 or 52100 taken to the upper spectrum of their practical max hardness?

Thanks much for the comments! The Blade core is 1095 and hardened to a RC of 61. The carbon damascus 1095 core san mai will act like and cut as a mono steel blade. And I have found this combination a great pair both in how it hardens and preforms as well as how it looks. :)

God Bless
