I accidently got some Tabasco sauce on a discolored copper pen. Well the pen became shiny where the Tabasco was. I applied this idea to the washers in my beater Sebenza, and the washers almost instantly became shiny. The knife is extremely smooth now.

Not exactly sure about the chemistry involved, but vinegar is a good cleaning agent.

(And can also force patinas on oxidizing metals if left on for a while.)

I just let a few drops sit on the washers for awhile, and wiped them off, then rinsed them.

Is this a joke? My wife just last night told me I put Tabasco on everything I even had it on my popcorn checking out the forums last night. Now she's going to ask "you even put it on your knives?"

Try some on a penny. Just don't eat the penny.

I've been slowly building a tolerance to hot sauces, Tabasco now tastes like straight vinegar. No burn at all.
I've got some stuff that would probably dissolve the washers.
Maybe it's time for a "What hot sauce do CRK people use" thread...

I have some 'stupid hot' sauces that my GF loves.

But vinegar is used to clean kitchen knives and form shiny patina.
