Ship a Busse to Hong Kong?

I have been selling a good portion of my collection lately and was just asked a question today by a prospective buyer: He asked if I would ship to Hong Kong. All dangers aside about being ripped off, having the knife seized, etc. I don't feel comfortable with it for a different reason. What if the buyer's intention is to copy and sell counterfeit versions? I am sure they can rip-off lots of knives just by looking at pictures, but with the physical blade in hand, I feel they could do a lot more damage. The blade in question is an older model, but has the brand new cerakote finish.

I could just be paranoid, but you never know. Regardless, the extra steps to ship to Hong Kong alone aren't really worth my time, so I am most likely going to say no.

Depends on the buyer. We had/have a couple Hogs over there and I wouldn't hesitate to send them one. But an unknown without a history here....I wouldn't chance it.

Don't do it that is clone central! I've send a ton of airsoft stuff looks just like the real thing.

I know several good guys that are based in HK, some ex-pat Aussies and locals. Each case is individual of course. If someone is going to clone a blade they will probably not spend the $s to have one sent over, especially a fixed balde, when they can have a friend/relative in the US get their hands on one, trace and measure it.

^^ This. There are better ways to clone. In my opinion, the decision should be primarily based on the risk of shipping, the cost involved, and the recourse if it does not make it to the recipient.

Good point.

There are a few Chinese or Asian guys that buy a bunch of Busse knives every year at Blade and off the exchange and from secondary dealers.

Most if not all are great guys.

I see your point though and all the ones who have bought from me have a US based exporter that gets a bunch of stuff together then ships in one big batch.

As far as cloning goes I would not think that is the motivation as there are a lot cheaper ways to do that I would guess.

As far as making sure the knife gets there...........China's import laws change all the time, I would proceed with caution unless it is a known China Hog.

I have shipped to Hong kong with no problems, just get a western union payment , collect the cash , ship it to him/her and after it lives this country is on him.

Oh, christ! Hong Kong is a trade port and it's tax free, you can ship virtually anything here. I can't fathom the "extra trouble" for shipping to Hong Kong, weight it, pay the postage, fill in the address! Maybe Busse should just close up shop not sell to anyone if they are so paranoid about being ripped off by selling a knife to Hong Kong?! Apple Inc. , trading at $106.7 USD a share on NASDAQ, have factories in China, you think they're worried?

By the way, Hong Kong is not China. Its a Special Administrative Region.

You're way off-base here buddy. The question was asked by a private party selling on the secondary market. Nothing to do with Busse's shipping policies.

The one Busse (hawkeye dagger) I sent to Hong Kong I just found on ebay as a knock off "boot dagger" made of 5Cr13Mov a couple of nights ago... never again. I have shipped things all over the planet in the past and will be much more selective now.
