If I am sending a knife from the US to an individual in Canada, is there anything special I need to know? He says to just mail it, and no problem. I don't want to get in trouble on my end. Any thoughts appreciated. the knife is just a standard folder, 3 inch blade.

Thanks.

I sold a Strider SNG to a guy in Canada. He said that the custom agents would try to flick the knife open. I don't know how they determined it but if it was too easy to flip open they would confiscate it. He instructed me to tighten the hinge pin.

You probably won't have any issues, but like pardue said, it is a good idea to tighten the pivot.

What I've done in the past is of course pick a reliable shipping service:

1. select a shipping service (most likely USPS)
2. agree on shipping price
3. tighten pivots, put a tie-wrap or two on the knife so that there's no way it will ever open
4. make sure you attach necessary forms and the customs sachel that goes with USPS international packages.
5. ship it off and pray :D

I would recommend using a shipping method that has tracking, even across borders. I believe USPS priority and express international have these. They cost a bit more, but it will help make sure that the knife arrives safely.

I hope that helps, J.

What J said. Be sure to use USPS, as the bonded carriers such as UPS and FedEx charge ridiculous 'brokerage' fees.
