Ship to Canada?

Nope. As in, it is a mystery. You can try, some stores may try, but it may get seized. It might work, it might not. Officially Customs decided that basically all one-handed openers are not allowed last I checked, but I think there is still some courts work going on. The fact that you can likely find one in-country is probably your better way to go.

I ran a giveaway over on the Spyderco forum and sent a Pacific Salt up north but unfortunately customs took it. I would be careful.

I am in Canada. If they can wing it open one handed they'll call it a prohibited weapon and take it off your hands. Not saying I agree with their interpretation, but they do it and have done it. So tighten it up at the pivot until it's a two hand opener for strong handed people. Or take the blade out if that doesn't work. Either the way the owner can tighten it to his or her preferences. But make sure it's a legal to own model or the buyer can still end up in hot water later, and I wouldn't want to facilitate that if I were the seller.

Label it truthfully. I use "cutlery", generically, and have had only success going both ways. There was one time I didn't give those instructions, and sure enough it was the time CBSA seized something sent to me (compression lock folder, declared as "camp tool", confiscated as "PRESUMED KNIFE").

I don't order folding knives across borders anymore, because of how ambiguous the customs rules are on this. It's a bit like buying a lottery ticket. You don't pay the money if you can't afford to lose it. There's some weasel language in there too that threatens to take legal action against you if you actually dispute the seizure too, which is pretty blatant government intimidation. You can ask the foreign retailer to tighten the pivot, but customs officers have a lot of discretion and are pretty uneven about applying the rules.

It gets in the way of ordering customized folders from the source, but there are a lot of very good knife retailers in Canada for non-customized folders.

I buy knives from US dealers. About one in ten will get opened and you can tell because they are closed up with CBSA tape.

They come from knife places like Blade HQ and have an accurate description and value. For me they are are diligent about collecting the taxes and fees; that's my only problem.

But you can buy one in Canada. Go figure.
Yes true but sometimes in the USA you'll find a special edition that has a nicer steel or something else. I would guess most of the Canadian dealers don't have enough of a base to commit to a special run.

May I suggest disassembling?
I have had two CRKs and a Shiro come across in the last few months with no issues.

I am guessing you meant "disassembling", as opposed to "dissembling", which means lying and deceiving.
Seems like a rather apropos Freudian slip there....

I've just given up on trying to get limited or special edition runs.

Knifejoy and Blade HQ. The Jester was opened but the Native Chief wasn't.

Customized foreign knives from the source are a customs issue, but there is at least one Canadian sharp and pointy retailer that offers a lot of custom options for some brands. Warriors and Wonders: Blades Canada has the gamut of custom Benchmade knives, including the option to do a screenshot from the Benchmade custom building site for them to get it for you (for the etchings and personalizing). It's pretty cool that I can get a Benchmade Griptilian in M4 steel locally.

Yeah I like them a lot and have bought a lot of knives there and would stop by in person when I was sin the city. I was super bummed out on the last trip to see they'd gone to online only now. Maybe forever.
