US custom at Los Angeles are holding my shipment. DOTD will be posted as soon as I receive shipment. Thank you all for your patience.

Sorry to hear about the hassle, Yangdu.

(Maybe I'll have some blade money by the time they get to Reno. :))

Hey let's stop an look at this box of cool looking sharp objects they might be dangerous to national security. Gotta love the government sometimes, sorry for the delay Yangdu hope you get them soon.

I can't believe we don't have a single customs agent infected with HIKV yet!

...maybe we do, and that's the problem.

Most likely since 9-11 they probably keep reinterpreting the shipping guidelines for sharp tools.

i need to see a dotd!!!... *shakes uncontrollably*
i think i need rehab for HIKV? :foot:

Cold Turkey Jai it sucks i know but it's the only cure. also giving current khukuri's away aid in the healing process:)

I haven't been buying much at all lately I'm afraid, and will have to relinquish my old shark teeth to all the new sharklings, but still hope this gets resolved quickly. I thought Customs was pretty well trained on HI stuff. They have only passed 20,000 or so (I'm guessing) through in the last 10 years!

I'm being more discriminating nowadays, but still hope to snag a great DOTD now and then.

I've a fear the bureacrats are making the world safe by harrassing HI, while real threats go undetected... but that's a typical kind of thought at the munk compound...maybe it's wrong....

the good bureaucrat must be seen to be doing something, the easiest way to do that is to find a creative way to apply existing rules to law abiding citizens who will rarely fight back. makes good headlines to say 'our morality police today intercepted a shipment of foreign weapons intended for distribution by a yet undisclosed shadowy organization that has been secretly distributing them to reactionary groups for unknown but suspicious purposes. the People can rest safe in their beds knowing these evil killing machines have been kept off the streets by your always vigilant servants'. they can then later quietly release the shipment and forget the initial sound bite. good bureaucrats can metamorphosise into a politician if they apply themselves, tho most are satisfied with being the power behind the sometimes too visible politician, also the metamorph process seems to destroy brain cells and put a permanent rictus* on the face of a political changeling.

a good bureaucrat starts life early and can usually be recognised for the 'gift'

p.s. - rictus is the frozen gaping smile, often seen on a corpse, an example: (the squeamish should look away now)

While Customs was looking at your box of knives, 5,000 lbs. of Cocaine and 300 lbs of enriched uranium slipped through in Raggedy Ann dolls from Columbia and North Korea.

George Bush gave a speech to the graduating class at the University of Arkansas and as he was boarding Air Force One to go back to Washington he was carring a small pig up the stair ramp to the plane. The Marine at the bottom of the ramp saluted and said "Nice Pig Sir " and George Bush said....'Son, This is a genuine Arkansas Razorback Hog that was trapped in the Ozarks just for me" "I got it for Hillary Clinton.

The Marine finished his salute and said...'Nice Trade Sir"

It's Murhpy's Law, that's all.
Custom's spot checks always come at inopportune times.
I once overnite ordered a Sea-Doo fuel tank from Canada to upstate NY, so a customer could race that weekend. Sure enough, 3 weeks later, US Customs released that next day air shipment of a plastic tank.

I havent heard of frequent issues with Customs in regards to HI, has it been an ongoing problem?

I don't recall many problems with US customs, Nepal customs on the other hand used to be a real big issue, or at least an often discussed one. I'm not sure if it's a problem that's largely gone away or if it's one that just isn't discussed as much as before.
