ANYBODY HAVE EXPERIENCE SHIPPING KNIFE/KNIVES TO BERLIN? BEST SHIP METHOD...ie, COST, DELIVERY TIME AND PERFORMANCE? DUTY ON HANDMADE KNIVES? PERSONAL EXPERIENCES APPRECIATED. THANKS

Use USPS, I dont know the price, but shouldnt be all that high.

Declare item as being a gift/sample, and put the description as "table cutlery".

Thats about all the help I can provide.

Yup, declare as a "tool" or something cause one german parcel service ("German Parcel") wont ship knives.

I have a good friend in Germany that I get knives for several times a year. When I have shipped directly as per his instructions I label it as "tools" and "gift" via USPS. In my experience crossman177 and function's advice is dead on. :D

I ship at least once a month to Germany, Austria or Switzerland. I SWEAR by USPS EMS Priority service. It takes about 3 days and I have NEVER had a problem. Keep the package LIGHT!!!! If the package is under the minimum weight, you ONLY need to mark the customs box on the shipping pouch. If it is over the minimum weight, you need to fill out the stick on customs form. I write CUTLERY on the customs info and have NEVER, ONCE had a problem. I also never mark it as gift, taxes are part of life, I ship too often to claim them all as gifts ;)

I pack all my knives, that will fit, in the FREE priority mail boxes, using the largest one that will fit in the EMS pouch!!Lastly, it doesn't hurt to ask to speek to someone at the post office that is EXPERIENCED in INTL. shipping. There is only ONE person at my P.O. that really knows what's going on:confused:
