Shipping costs from HeatBath?

For those priveleged few who have gotten product from HeatBath...

What did you pay for your shipping, roughly?

I ordered 4 - 5 gallon buckets of Park #50.

I was told it was $6.41/gallon. So 20 gallons would be $128.20.

I fully expected to pay $40-50 for shipping on that much weight.

But today they delivered only 2 buckets COD ($64.10 worth) and the man in brown said I owed $147.20.

Now if they're still sending 2 more buckets w/o any more charge, then I think $20 is really good for shipping.

However, if they, for whatever reason, think they only need to send me 2 buckets...and charge me $83.10 shipping, then I will probably have to kill someone!!!

I called and asked about it but of course the shipping guru had just left.

Hopefully this is a pointless, unfounded rant :)

Think about it, Nick! 2 buckets of the stuff probably weighed in at close to 75 pounds. Add a hazmat charge if there is one and COD charges and the boys in Brown stuck you about what I'd expect. Heck, I've shipped Mike Hull a package that weighed 2-3 pounds and it cost me $14 regular ground through Brown. Companies can almost immediately tell you what shipping will be, but they don't because it discourages business.

I ran a quickie calculation for 75 pounds from here to Tenino, since I had that ZIP. $60 ground with pick-up.

I ordered 4 5-gallon buckets from them (two 50s and two AAAs) and the total with shipping ended up being $192. So 60-70 bucks shipping sounds about right. Unfortunately.

UPS has an extra shipping charge for buckets. Be sure You have them put the bucket in a box. Saves you money.

Fitz-

Usually your posts full of jovial wisdom brighten my day and leave me with a smile.

This one, however, DID NOT!!! :(

I thought I could keep my dauntless optimism...that is, until I realized you were right!

Sure enough...a $32 bucket of oil...came out to $73 per bucket by the time they got here. That really sucked to pay over $180 for shipping on $128 worth of oil!!!! Grrrr...

When they got you by the cajones...wha' cha' gonna do????

Michael, I'm kind of wishing I had gotten two buckets of AAA and two of the 50...that was my original plan, but I have a few friends that were interested in the 50 as well.

The thing that's hard for my fledgling brain to grasp, is that $300 worth of oil is a business expense for my full-time "job," and not just a "toy" cost.

Now I just need to build a 10 gallon blender and we'll be in business! :)

Thanks Fellas! :)

Nick,

A year ago I paid $112 for two 5 gal buckets (in boxes) of Parks

Thermo-Quench oil.

The oil was priced at around $25 per bucket, so.......

Oil about $50. Shipping...$62......???????????

Nick, sorry to have burst the bubble on ya, my friend! :(

Something you may check out next time you buy something like that is to ask them to put it on a pallet and hold until a trucking company can take it. I'm certain they could have saved you some money if they had gotten off their lazy arse and tried to minimize costs for you. Bastids!
