I wasn't having any luck moving a couple of 1800’s reproduction knives I have for sale. So I put them on EBay for a Buy it Now price of $50.00, which is too cheap but need some money to buy parts for my grinder build. Today I got a question from a guy in Norway!

Does anyone know anything shipping knives to Norway?

Should I be suspicious, does this sound like one of those scams? This was the message I received.

labeling knives like that for shipment to Europe is very common. I have done it with every knife that I have shipped to the UK and Belgium. Those guys get hosed with the duties and VAT if the Customs guys are in a bad mood. So much so that they are willing to risk not having them insured. The Norwegians has traditionally been VERY bad about sticking outrageous duties and taxes on luxury goods, etc.

I just shipped my second shipment of stuff to a customer in Sweden.I just marking camping tools on the customs form and marked as a gift.I sent them USPS Priority. You can get the approximate shipping cost off the internet.Dave

Thanks guys I talked to someone that I know who ships international also, and got pretty much the same answers. Sometimes it just helps to bounce a question off of someone who's "been there, done that"!
Dang, this would be my first international 1800's replica knife sales, imagine that! Just when I was about to get discouraged about building 1800's replicas again!
Will Leavitt told me be true to your passion, thanks Will!

I have shipped to alot of countries, and have had very few problems, mostly delays, which can be expected. If you use Paypal you can use their shipping USPS and print out your own labels and export papers, very easy and convenient, you do have to get the plastic envelopes from the post office. It sure beats standing in line at the PO-----Regards Butch--Oh yes you will need postal scales, very cheap on Ebay
