Shipping To Canada

Just a question here. I live in Canada and I almost dislike going on the US exchange forum because a lot of them say CONUS only. I'm just wondering what the big issue is with shipping a knife from the US to Canada. I've had plenty of knives shipped to me from the US and the charges weren't too high and they got here in a reasonable time which means customs isn't too bad. I live in BC which apparently is the worst for knives in terms of clearing customs. To all the US users, whats the big deal with it? I'm sure it isn't terribly difficult to figure out a flat rate shipping charge for Canada. I'm just asking this because i've missed out on some scores due to living in Canada and quite frankly, it grinds my gears a little as i'm sure it does to other Canadian users. Any insight is greatly appreciated because maybe you guys know something I don't. Thanks for reading.

What a lot of folks get burned by is that when shipping to Canada, ONLY use the US Postal Service. I made the mistake once of using UPS and it really cost me.

I sent 2 knives, and they were held up for a while at Canadian Customs, and then they couldn't get in touch with the person I was sending them to. So my choice was to let Customs have them, or pay an exorbitant amount, around $200, to get them back. For some reason, the US Mail won't ping us like that, but I learned my lesson the hard way.

Most of us here in the US use UPS over US Mail, maybe it has something to do with that.
