Does anyone know how I can ship knives into either Hong Kong or China? UPS told me I cannot.

Daniel,

I have shipped to Hong Kong several times just using USPS Global Priority shipping. I don't remember the cost but it was not expensive.

For the record, I will NOT ship outside the U.S. without Global Express. Global Priority is not trackable, once it leaves the U.S., while Express supposedly is.

I would go with Fed-X Economy. I have used it several times with no problems. However, it is pricey. You had better figure at least $60.00.

Daniel-

I will jump on and vote for USPS Global Priority... I've shipped knives to China using this service and (knock on wood) everything went off without a glitch.

It still scares me everytime I ship something (especially) that far away.

I recently shipped a knife to Thailand via USPS Global Express because of the tracking ability. The knife was delivered without a hitch and pretty quickly too. I did check the tracking after the guy in Thailand told me he had the knife and tracking said it was in Chicago. So there was a problem with the tracking but the knife made it OK and that is the important thing I guess.

Thank you for the help. I really appriciate the input. I think I'll try Global Express. I noticed on the paper work downloades from the USPS site that Global Express is actually handled by FedEx.

The post office is the only way to go. Currier companies are a Royal Pain In The Ass. I think to Japan a small drop point or folder would be about $8-10

I have had a fair amount shipped to me an nary a problem.

Hi Daniel

UPS does send knives to almost every country in the world- a few exceptions, but Hongkong is definitely OK.

Call back and speak to 20 UPS agents and you will get 20 different answers. Get the name of the one who gives you the right answer.

On the other hand, just use FedEx- they are the best.

Take care, Neil

Daniel,
I am shipping knives around also and have found labling them as Camping Equipment is the best way. Once you tell them its a knife...its sometimes a no go. I use US postal service. Places like Austrailia wont allow ANY edge product in.....hence title it Camping equipment. After all...thats what a camp knife is for right :D

The post office here says you cannot insure any packages going overseas. They also say you can't track it once it leaves the states. I would rather go fed-ex. Just my 2 cents worth.

USPS Global Express is the ONLY way. It's trackable with most of EMS which is available in many countries.

Once it's left USA's ground, I still be able to track it using the same tracking number at my country's EMS website.
Hope this help. ;)

I shipped something USPS Express and couldnt track it on my end.....I wonder if the customer in Poland could??? Interesting :)

USPS Global Express. has tracking and insurance option as well. That would be best. With courier companies...the cost is crazy, altho FEDEX is the way to go with swords. Don't worry. The only snag about insurance is that if you declare the real full value, the buyer will likely have to pay customs duties. Chicken and egg scenario. Most buyers will ask that you underdeclare, which is ok. I'm not in HK, but I've never lost a package shipped to me Global Express or Global Priority.

Daniel, since I love your frontier knives, why don't you test ship a knife to me using Global Express to Singapore, for your ease of mind? I promise I'll return it once I've admired and used it a little...lol.
