So about a month ago I stumbled upon somebody selling a Shirogoov mod 95 Hati. I have had my eye on one of these for awhile but most people add $3-500 to the original price of them. The price was pretty good and was lightly carried, I feel I got a great deal.
So for anyone reading this that might not be familiar with Shirogorov, here is a little over view from the information that I have been given. It is a Russian made knife, ran by two brothers. The brand is extremely popular in Russia. Currently there is only one distributor in North America, good luck finding them with that site.
This model is their most popular, the 95. Their are other variations of this model, however this one is the Hati. That just means it has a sculpted Carbon Fiber face scale and it runs on washers instead of bearings. My knife is in S30V, they seem to use quite a few different steels at different times. The blade length is just over 4" and the overall length is 8 3/4" when closed the knife feels much smaller than its specs would imply. However when you have the knife open you can really feel that extra blade length that most of us are not used to. They use very nice custom hardware, however everything can be adjusted with any flat head screwdriver. They also us a extremely nice custom pocket clip, not only is it very visually appealing, it has great tension on it as well. The knife sits very low in your pocket and you can trust that it is there when you need it. The blade is a very nice full flat grind that comes down to a very thin edge. It seems their heat treat is done very well as this knife holds a very sharp edge for a long time. The knife is opened with a flipper. Tho is easily the Sebenza of Flippers. Even on washers this blade fires out quicker than any auto or spring assisted knife I have ever seen. I would reccomend this knife to anyone who is looking for the next step in their collections. If anyone has any questions or comments just let me know. For tvose of you that have experiance with these knives, how have they been for you.
