Recently a maker by the name of Shirogorov out of Russia has released a few knives to TNK mainly the model 95 framelock flipper. Anyways this knife looks amazing to me. I was just curious if any of you guys here have any experience with Shirogorov knives. If so please let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance as always.

MD I bought one this week with the S90V blade. I didn't really know what to expect other than I liked the looks from Neil's pics. When it arrived Thurs. I was very impressed. Just the right size knife for me and very solidly built. Even though it has some heft to it (4.8 oz) it is slender feeling and not bulky. The lockup on mine is early and very solid. The detent is quite strong but when you get past it the blade flys open and locks up solid every time. I'm sure it will get easier to flip open after I've opened it a few more times. I really can't wait to put a nice edge on it on my EP. After I've worked on it I'll take some photos and post them in the edc thread probably. I've had a bunch of nice titanium framelocks and this one rates right up there at the top in my books.

Thanks so much for the info sir! Yea I saw them and just had to have one too. I got s30v version with sculpted cf inlays. Can you tell me about how thick the blade is sir? I've read 4.5mm somewhere but not sure. I cant find much info on them honestly lol. The overall design and steel insert/lockbar stop is what sold me honestly. Plus had "heard" they where incredibly well built knives.

The blade is exactly 1/8" (3.18mm) thick at the spine, right in front of the tang. I'm sure you'll
like yours when you get it.

I just placed an order for an anodized blue model on Neil's site too! Nice (but pricey) little knives. I will post a review when I get it!

(sarcastically) THANKS for bringing this to my attention. I just ordered a Shirogorov : Mod 95 HATI. Just what I needed!

Quite nice looking knives.

I came across them while looking around YouTube for other knife reviews.

Got mine in yesterday. Outstandingly well made knife. WOW! I'll ( iAMboognish/ARCHMAN) be doing a YouTube review soon!

I got mine yesterday too! Blue anodized titanium - Reminds me of a slimmed down XM-18 sorta (though the design is different, but equally beautiful).

Came kinda dull. Sharpmaker for less than a minute fixed that.

The flipper has an interesting (I think good) way of working IMO... It's got some tension when you try and flip. A good deal of pressure is required to actually commit to flipping it open - but as soon as it starts it's like the blade glides on air - incredibly smooth. The result is because you have to put so much pressure on it to flip, there's solid force flinging the blade open once you get past it the initial resistance - To me it almost feels like there's an assist in there at times - though there isn't. Quite a good idea, I thought!

I will post pics eventually I'm sure.

I have got few Shirogorov's knives but all of older models. I like them for nice blade and handle shapes, good full flat grind, Ti liners and consistent quality.
Shirogorov is well known among Russian knife enthusiasts: he makes knives for probably the last 10 years. There are actually two Shirogorov brothers working together making these knives: I do not really know who of them is the Shirogorov... yes, I can see now - Igor. Some of the latest models are product of co-operation with another knife-maker: Dmitry Sinkevich from Belorussia. Senkevitch is great knife designer in my personal opinion, but he is completely in custom, does all the work himself and his knives are much more difficult to find and they are considerably more expensive.
Anyway, there is a link to the topic on Russian knife site which was started some time in 2006 as you could see and has got 72 pages by now with many pictures: http://forum.guns.ru/forummessage/5/132698-62.html I selected page 62 and would recommend to move up - to look at some other earlier knives.

I hope that they end up doing a custom collaboration in the future with one of the bigger production companies.

thanks archie.
Looks like the only place you can get them from is true north knives. Which sucks because 1. they are out of stock & 2. they do not ship to NYC

A friend of mine has 2 mod95s, one titanium with CF inlays and the other is the Hati version. I've handled both and they are the real deal. The fit and finish is superb, super smooth and fast flipping, and rather elegant for a knife of its size. It has that contemporary minimalist look and feel. I say get one, you won't be disappointed. Dare I say it's like the Sebenza of flippers.
