hello

I am considering to get a shirogorov in 2019, either a F95T or a Hati CF

M390 would be my pick but as I sometime see some models available in RWL34 and Vanax37 I would like to get more information on those steels

Are they worth it?

They are all great. Even shiros s30v has a really good heat treatment.

Vanax is excellent for stainlessness but m390 has better edge retention iirc but not by a huge margin iirc. I guess it varies what you cut and the geometry you set.

RWL34 is just cpm-154 and it's similar to say s35vn. But a bit tougher and less edge retention

All of them are great.

My F95T in Vanax 37 has become my most favored knife and steel. To me, it sharpens like a premium quality carbon steel. I carry it 5 out of 7 days a week and it really does have outstanding edge holding capability. I sold my Shiro in m390. I had an opportunity to pick up something else I've really been wanting and decided one of the Shiro's had to go. The Shiro in m390 was also an F95, and also in a really desirable handle (CF inserts). It came down to the steel I found I preferred.

So, what I'm saying is that all other things being equal (in Shiro's specifically), I'd personally pick the V37. It's worth it. There are plenty of knives out there in m390, Elmax, s90V,... but I do not know of any other folder in V37.
