Hi, I’m looking for some material with the stick that has less to do with the art, and more of the martial so to speak. I have noticed that in the knife community there’s shiv works and a couple of other sources that deal with non knife on knife stuff that is strictly business. I am looking for the same type of material but with a stick. I have had a couple of years of instruction in modern arnis so I know the basics and how to move, even a few trapping and entering techniques. I just want to expand my horizons, but where ever I look, most of the material is about the art and not so much of the martial. Any good recommendations on any sources out there?

Thanks

Well...if you would like to stay connected to the Filipino approach and still meet your demand, look no further than Dog Brotheres. If, on the other hand, it doesn't matter to you where does the stuff come from, you might wanna check out Kelly McCann's (aka Jim Grover) stick portion of his combatives curriculum.

So you have a couple of years of Modern Arnis...

Well then a good choice would be Datu Kelly Worden. Your past training will be leveraged and refined. Modern Arnis can be a lot of things, with Datu Worden it's no BS movement and dynamic action.

He just finished up a long contract training 1st. SF Group at Fort Lewis and that is as martial as it gets.:D
