Anyone out there familiar with the knife maker Shiva-Ki? Despite the name the guy is actually a gringo with former service in SF. His knives are quite unusual and beautiful. I have not been able to locate a recent address for this maker. Any help would be appreciated.

You would never believe just how many listings there are for Shiva Ki. However, once again that trusty Krause annual publication "Knives '99" lists Mr. Ki at 5222 Ritterman Ave. Baton Rouge, La. 70805. His phone is (504)356-7274. How about submitting a pic of some of his work for the rest of the world that is unfamilliar with him?

Thank you very much Mr.Faltz for the contact info regarding Shiva Ki. I do not own any of his work at present otherwise I would post some pics. I have seen and handled an number of his knives including some of his more "aggressive" designs. His craftsmanship is really exceptional, especially his clay tempering and fine edge work. When I receive my knife I will post it so that others may become familiar with Shiva Ki.

Ive seen Shiva's work. I like his simple full tang fighter/bowies. The examples i saw had excellent balance, sharp, tough etc..

I have often thought of calling Mr Ki, he lives fairly close to me (2 hours), just never got around to it. Maybe i will now.

I have two of Shiva's knives for sale if interested, a damascus fighter with sheephorn and a stainless"Ninja Dart" with Bighorn Sheephorn, If interested contact me

I was just looking through a "Gung Ho" from perhaps the mid 80's. In it there is a good article on Shiva Ki. I will make a copy if anyone wants.

Maybe he went underground because of some less than outstanding business dealings. He still owes me $300 for a powerhammer purchased back in 1989. There were also couple of incidents (I'm not sure of details) that got him expelled from the knifemaker's guild, as I understand it.
