Hi, I'm new here and this is my first post. I was wondering about the legality of 'shoe-knives' like the Joker has in The Dark Knight movie.

The reason I ask is because I'm improving a Joker Costume I made for Halloween and I really only want the knife for show. Anyway if someone could help me out here I would really appreciate it.:)

Welcome to the blade forums! I hope you find your stay here enjoyable! Regarding your question depending on your region I would think that would qualify as a concealed weapon, if thats not an issue than your fine.

Thanks!

I live in Georgia the law here says any knife with a blade under 5" is OK to carry but I just wanted to make sure. I can't get a concealed carry permit as I'm only 16...Anyway thanks for getting back to me!

I don't have a clue how exactly a shoe knife would work in real life. I don't know about anybody else, but when I walk that entire portion of my shoe bends with my foot, so the blade would snap.

The new laws passed in Georgia do not place any restrictions on knives with blades under 5.5 inches. No matter what kind of mechanism, shape or design, if the blade is that short, it is legal.

See § 16-11-125.1 in the state code for details: http://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/gacode/

OK Cool! Thanks! I thought it would be fine but I just wanted to see what other people thought about it. Thanks again!
