My militaries back spacer screw has slowly been coming out lately. Went to go tighten it up today and the screw was just spinning. Threads fell out... I never crank my screws down due to the fact that If I need to get it apart I don't want to strip screw heads. Has anyone else had a similar issue? I hope they can fix me up and send me one so I can get this thing back in my pocket. I carry it a lot but it hasn't seen much hard use in the woods yet.

better yet, get threaded stainless standoffs. the thread size/pitch is 2-56. I just ground them down to the right thickness.

Gooey, I was looking into doing exactly what you did to your military. It looks fantastic! I have two questions if you would be so kind...
Did you get the stand-off's from Knife kits?
And can you tell if removing the spacer weakened the knife in any way?

Yup, got them from knifekits. That backspacer is only aluminum, and the threads strip out easily. The standoffs, provided they are the right size, do not compromise the handle integrity in any way. While you're at it, change out the screws to T9 torx too.

The spacer size is .165, with 2-56 threads. I went with the simple barrel style and they look great on my ti millie. i got them from midwest knife something. came to about 5 dollars shipped.

Same thing has happened to me on two different Millies, and I am VERY careful to not over torque screws. As a matter of fact the ONLY knife I've ever had a problem with is the Millie.
