The Shop 1 AK arrived today, two days from Georgia to Idaho via priority mail. Wow, what a knife. Initial impressions: this blade is a behemoth. Weighs about four pounds. Good convex edge, very sharp. It's never been used, has no wear on it, minor verdigris and tarnish as should be expected. Handle wood is dark-grained and beautiful, no rouge, perhaps rosewood? Very well finished. Here it is next to a BGRS for size perspective:

Blade is engraved with two dragons on the right side, lion and yak on the left. "H.I." in Devangari, no maker's mark.

Blade has forge marks and waves in it along the fuller lines, lines not as sharp and well-defined as Birgorkha models. Here's the rest of the pertinent specs:

OAL 21.5"
Blade 14.5"
Spine 13/16" wide ( )
Handle circumference 5"
Karda 7" OAL (4" blade)

Mike - that's quite an AK you've got there.

Any test in the works?
(or still drooling...?!? :D )

I wasn't planning to work this one over, I've got plenty of other workhorses. I think this one will go on display with the Dhankuta. :)

Not sure about the wood, but I read somewhere that the dragons signify that this particular blade was used by ninjas to chop the heads off of Nazis in their sleep. ;) :D

shop 1 work? I can't remember seeing any on the khuks from Birghorka. But I haven't been around all that long.

The wood on this knife is what we routinely got on the khuks from Shop-1.
It is beautiful is it not?:D
I still think it's some type of rosewood and the color and grain run all the way through so it's not stained. The same wood is on my Super Salyan that I took the handle down in size on, but have never finished it.
Perhaps one of these days now.:D
