Just wanted to share a couple of photos of my shop (particularly grinding station). I fabricated all three machines mostly out of 6160 aluminum (we have a place here in columbus that sells by the pound at scrap prices--1.20 lb.) They are all connected to an FM50 VFD with a switching box. It goes without saying that these are all clones of Beumont Metal Works machines. The only thing I didn't make were the two drive wheels for the KMG and EF-48 clones. I turned all the idler wheels on my metal lathe. I am very grateful to several of you in particular:

Rob Frink--Beumont Metal Works (If I had the money, I would have bought his machines but he was very helpful and I am glad he is here in Columbus. I did buy his contact wheel, drive wheels, small wheel attachment, 9" disc etc. Nothing but good things to say about him.

Chris Crawford--Electro Etching Tutorial (works great)

Dan Fogg--Plans for KMG clone

Silver_Pilate--Directions for the VFD switching box

Ernie Grospitch--Stencils and insight to making my stencil developer

Tracey Mickley--Great supplier/quick shipper for materials

Got really lucky with all three motors. The place I got all my aluminum (Research Alloys) bought a pallet of motors (new or reconditioned) from a motor supplier that went out of business. They sold these motors at $25 a hp. I ended up with 2--1 1/2 HP 3PH and 1--1 HP 3PH (Baldor, and G.E.)--$75 for all three :)

Only thing left to do is get my VFD enclosed/dust proof. Need to come up with something that will circulate air to keep it cool as well. Haven't quite got that nailed down yet.

Also built a twin to the KMG Clone so I can use one at my daytime job (own a small cabinet company). The best part of this whole thing is that I tallied everything and have less than $1000 in my entire knife making setup. Couldn't have done it without this forum. Thanks again.
