Why does everything in my shop eventually become a magnet? After all these years my gizzard must surely be one!

My guess is lots of electrical currents and heat. If the pieces in my elbow weren't 300 series (I think) stainless it would prolly be a magnet by now.

Just get a good demagnetizer. Most knifemakers shops have one.

I've had articles magnetized just from drilling them.
Same thing happens on the belt grinder.
If you are wearing an older auto, or manual wind watch, they will become magnetized in the shop too.

You can get one at Harbor Freight, Grizzly, MSC, etc.
