Shop Manager

With the maoist strikes consuming all of Nepal, all work has stopped,
including public transportation. It is very difficult for the Kamis to do their work.

They cannot ride bicycles or autos and have to walk everywhere they have
to go.
Our shop manager lives 10km from our shop and, when he tried to walk it, he
spent 4-1/2 hours getting there. That included another 4-1/2 hours to
get home again.

In spite of the maoist strikes, the new Kamis have started work, but
their shipments will be erratic until the strikes are settled.

Hopefully all the unrest will cease and things will return to normal as soon as possible without any further trouble or bloodshed.

With the usual patience, fortitude and understanding, I'm sure the shop and all of us will endure this, as we always have.
Prayer and Smoke going up for Pala, Kami's and Shop.

Yes, when I read about this I was worried about the Kamis safety and such too.
Will they be OK over there I hope? The knives are one thing but lives can't be replaced.

I have been praying for all of them since I heard.

Darn it Yangdu, you should've given the bad news first - just tzn.

Certainly have good thoughts and prayers for the BirGorkha family and the Nepalese people headed their way. Their safety and well being is paramount in this situation. We can certainly wait for new blades if necessary.

Thank you all for your good thoughts and prayers

Hopefully this is resolved soon and things can get back to normal. Stay strong and positive!

Let's hope that this signals better times ahead: Nepal's streets lively after crippling strike ends

smoke and prayers up and ongoing for peace. Knives, no matter how beautiful, are just things. We cannot replace a life with patience, hammer, and fire.
