Thought i'd give a try at posting pics here is my grinder and my new forge that a gave a try last night worked great probley only needed to keep the steel in for about a minute to get it hot enough. Used a hair dryer for the forced air(my wife didn't like that much I guess it was an expensive one:jerkit: )

Good work on that grinder...how does that wooden contact wheel do for you. Is that dog a hunter? Frank

wooden wheel works good enough I have some 3/16 rubber to cover it with but haven't figured out what to glue in on with after my first disasterous attempt(worked about 10 min then the rubber came off and attempted to eat me alive) so it works but it is a bit hard. Saw a 10in contact wheel in Grizzly I was considering getting and making it work. Also working on a platen setup for flat grinding. The dog isn't so good for hunting you end up hunting for him all day!

Cool setup. For the contact wheel I'd probably try Barge cement contact cement to glue the rubber on, unless that's what nearly ate you!

Nice knives too, I realy like the shape of the bottom one.

I'm new to the forum but I figured I might as well kick in my two cents worth.
had similar experience when I built my first grinder, the covering on the wheels kept coming off. What I ended up using was contact cement. Clean both surfaces with alcohol wipe off with a dry cloth the coat both surfaces with a thin even coat of contact cement (the water based stuff made for laminate counter tops works great and you can't blow up your shop by ignighting the fumes). If you want to see the finished work call and come by.

Used a bag of quickcrete I had laying around to build the forge you can't see in that photo that the pipe is in the bottom with 1/4in holes about every 1in(it has tape on it in the photo so I wouldn't get concrte in them. Used it again today to start forging a file down forge was working great but the makeshift anvil I made failed on me. Hade a large wood splitter set in a bucket of concrete but guess I was to ancious to give it a try unfortunatly the stuff wasn't set up completly so hade to cut short until I come up with something else.

Looks like a getto forge if I have ever seen one:D . Your knifes look great:thumbup:. I am partial to the bottom one. I like your grinder too. I am thinking of making one like that.

PS: Your dog looks like a real character:). And good luck with that anvil.
