i was just curious as to what yall think about this layout. the scale is 1/4" = 1'. its 25'x30' and designed to basically look like a house on the outside. the front of the house is on the bottom of the page.

all the walls are in red. the bathroom has a shower, utility sink and toilet. do you think its too big of a shop? a house has to be a minimum of 750sq/ft in my neighborhood and i still plan to live in my RV. the clean room will have all the pin stock and handle material and stuff like that along with any electrical ovens and buffers. the main shop part will be for all the dirty work. the forge area will actually be outside infront of the garage under a covered awning along with any presses, power hammers, mills, and whatnot that will be used on hot steel. any suggestions or comments? if you think i should change it around a little just let me know what your ideas are to improve it. the bathroom has to stay in that corner cause its the closest corner to the septic rtank which means less pipes to run. the door on the back will allow me to not have to walk around the whole shop to get to my bbq pit im gonna build back there. i wonder if i should add a small fridge in the clean room (beer, sodas, more beer ).

Make it a 2-story and live in the top part.:thumbup:

Also, You'll need more 'dirty' room than 'clean' room--maybe 2 to 1.

its mainly supposed to look like a house. i like that 2-story idea. that would be friggin sweet. if i cant sleep i can go assemble a knife or do some finishing touches. i still want to have the bathroom in the shop of course. i think i can make it work to where i reduce the size of the clean room by adding stairs in the middle and keep the main shop area the same size.

Are the gray lines countertops, or just an outline of 'tool intensive' areas?

You might want to consider a small room stuck in another corner for a compressor and dust control systems (planning for the future ya know).

ok updated the plans. the air compressor will be under the stairs. the dust collection system will be in a corner of the shop and will have more than one in the whole shop. ill have to see how many i will need once i start setting everything up. ill vent it all outside thru dryer vents. any other comments or suggestions with the new design? im trying to make a very decent (and turns out to be rather large) shop. good thing about having a large shop is i have more room for many toys and even big toys. :thumbup:

hows it looking now? added a few more labels and am also showing my house plans which will be the second floor. also changed the dimensions to actual feet but without the '. the kitchen area doesnt show appliences or anything. that will come later when i bring in the cabinet guys. the basic seperation between the dining room and the computer room is the stairs. hows it look. and yes i live alone. HEHEHEHE!!!
