Hello All:

Just sold my house and am finally gonna look for one with a shop or one where I can build one. My question to you all is....

What would be your ideal size shop and what features would you look for or include in one?

Any help you guys can give will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Bob

about 1200 square foot floor space and a living area upstairs just in case Tanya throws you out of the house and/or us other knifemakers come to visit for a few days.

Good size, good electrical wiring, and good insulation epsecially in Idaho..;)
Moving to Idaho myself, thats what I am concerned with...

A room for grinding. A room for hot work. A room for assembly and all the other details. Good power to the shop. Plenty of lighting. Natural lighting would be nice for the assembly part. Good solid floor for machines to rest on.

Oh yes, and a bathroom would be awesome too!

mine is just short of 2500 feet of floor space heated year round.
and I need to add on :( :D make it just about twice the size you think you'll need it.
then you can add on in a few years:D
