I've always been proud of my lightning quick reflexes. Anything near me that happened to be falling by accident, I'd catch before it dropped six inches. No more, the last item was falling off my coffee table. It was a bowie blade. Ouch...and lesson learned.

If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving isn't for you.

Did the same thing the other day with a hot piece of steel falling off my anvil.
OUCH!!!!
Didn't lose any fingers I hope?

That had to be pretty painful for a few days...but I'm sure you kept working as I did. My cut fortunately was only 1/4" deep on my thumb.

Ouch! bowies are bad, mostly because I keep them so sharp! >

this weekend my frind was in my shop, and i only had one pair of glasses. I gave them to him because we were both forging and I didnt want him to get hurt.. right? well i got a big piece of scale in my eye and i went to the hospital and i had two cornial scratches as a result. Well, needless to say on the way back from the hospital i stopped at a store and got 2 more pairs of glasses. The weird thing is that this was the first time i ever forged with no glasses.. and look at what i got to show for it.

keep the sparks flyin guys, but keep it out of yer eyes.

That just shows that the goggles were protecting you before so well that you didn't even notice how neccessary they were. I have two pair of dydidium glasses, four pair of goggles and a full face shield. I still need to get a welding helmet or two before I can use they oxy/acetlyn rig. :<
