I joined the BF in early February. It has dominated my life since. I never checked this forum until a week or so ago. Boy, am I glad I did!

I've read a lot about the support for new makers provided by more experienced makers. Being of a suspicious nature, assumed it was mostly hype. Very glad to find the truth.

I find what happens on this forum almost unbelievable! One thread after another, a new maker is asking questions, or an experienced famous maker is acknowledging a problem and looking to peers for help -- and receiving it. Then there is all the praise for early efforts, and the incredible level of knowledge and experience that is obvious in the nature of many posts.

Gentlemen -- haven't seen any posts by women here yet -- I think you do yourselves and your profession proud! I don't recall anything in my life that exhibits such supportiveness and helpfulness and candor. Absolutely amazing!

Thank you for the content, and thank you more for exhibiting every day how people ought to treat each other.

Bugs, Thanks for the pat on the back. There have been a few ladies post here. Mostly to tell us how to behave at a knife show. There are some really good customers out there that happen to be women. Audra Draper has been on a few times. She is an ABS Master Smith now. Anyway its good to see another washington forumite. Bruce

Bugs,
Yea, this is one great place. Easiest to moderate on all of Bladeforums.com. You guys do a wonderful job at it.
Richard,
I've often said the same thing.

Once you get over being addicted to these threads you can actually spend some time in the shop applying some of the tricks herein. Balancing your time may be a challenge. Have to agree, this is a great site supported by wonderful people. Welcome.

Just spent the day with Dave and Nick in Tenino. Got Nick's mini forge fired up and it will weld! and likely glow in the dark, three days after being shut down. Can't wait to see Nick's forging adventures unfold. Terry
