I'm sure I'm not the first to do this, but DON'T FORGET TO TAKE THE CHUCK KEY OUT OF THE CHUCK BEFORE YOU TURN YOUR DRILL PRESS ON! Thankfully it came loose before the chuck got up to full speed and flew in to the cheap 20 quart stock pot I want to use as a quenching container! (Just my luck my wife came into the shop just as I turned it on and witnessed my stupidity! HA HA)

buy three....then you can usually find one of them...but not always....organized intelligent types chuck the straight part in the chuck when not in use....way to rational for me.

I attached a key caddy to the body of my drill press for the chuck key. Its always there when I need it and can't get lost.

I have a small delta drill press, the chuck key center is spring loaded so that you have to push in on it to engage the chuck teeth. When you let off on it, it pushes itself out of the chuck.

I bought a couple of those round flat magnets at the local hardware store and put them on the side of the drill press body. I just slap the chuck key on the magnets and it is always there when I need it.

It`s a good bet to unplug your hand held drill from the juice/air when you`re chucking up a bit.Ever hit the trigger by accident while you`re tightening up a bit?? YEEEEOWWWW...S**T!
