If your work bench is like mine, you have very little if no clean work space available for things such as glue up or trial fitting where you want to keep everything in one place and clean. I took some scrap plywood, about 10" by 12" and attached a piece about 9" by 3" to one side . I just clamp it in my vise anytime I need the space or a stable place to set things. Sure came in hand.
