I recently finished surface grinding some damascus to thickness, and then coated them with dykem layout fluid. I figured that I'd coat them cause i'd have to lay them out eventually. The dykem has kept them from rusting. They had developed some superfical rust just from sitting on my shelf. but now they are clean, and ready to be laid out. It's definately cleaner than using oil, or wax.
Hope this helps,
Chuck

Just love the stuff, more uses than WD40! Spray it on billets and scratch out what steel it is. Spray on a blade while grinding to "see where I'm at". Seems like I always have blue thumbs!:)

My dog doesn't much care for it. He got into what he would consider some "gourmet" giraffe bone one night not too long ago in the shop and I was gonna find out what he'd look like blue but he was too fast! Who knows, maybe it would stop fleas! One day I swear, I'm gonna find out! He's a good dog as far as dogs go but he is just a dog! I just keep him around for when duck season roles around!

I like it for making tapered tangs. Simply spray it blue and sand the tang on a flat plate, it will show where the high spots are. grind away only the high spots and repeat until the tang is perfectly flat.

My dog likes to chew on stag and mammoth ivory.
