This may be obvious to everyone but me :) , but I've always had trouble cutting thin stock on the band saw -- the teeth are too coarse for the material and pop the blade off, or worse break off teeth.

So here's how I finally got around it. I put the thin stock on top of a piece of wood and cut through both. Worked like a charm. The wood gave enough support for the blade that it cut just fine. I was pretty pleased with myself! :D

great tip

I hold it on with double stick tape.
this gives you extra control

if you cut acrilic on the band sawand back it up with hard board(masonite), the fibers act as a lubricant and it won't gum itself back together:D
