shop tour

Really a nice well equipted shop Dan! Is that some sort of old leather sewing machine? Somehow, the tire equipment seems just a little out of place in your knifemaking shop, but not much! Anyway, that's a great shop, looks very comfortable to work in, thanks for showing it. I may be wrong, but I swear I've seen these pictures before, long ago. I can forget a face very easy, but I hardly ever forget a shop.

thanks
yeahup same pictures but just more junk now :D

yes on the old leather sewing machine I have two and both
still are not working :) timing or something?

Your shop looks a lot like mine, but I've got more junk and less tools! You might not be able to ballance a knife, but what about using the ballancer for mower blades? :p

Will I have at least one of those around too :D

IG I don't dare show the rest of the mess...

Robert
there isn't much there that's automatic other than THe surface grinder
it's something that's needed for folders unless you don't like eating
(for full timers at least)
the mill is an over sized drill press most of the time..The willton belt grinder or buffers are
no less a machine then the other two all used by control of the makers hand.
all they do is speed up the process.. :)

Nice shop and equipment, Dan. I enjoyed the tour until I saw where you threw up on that sewing machine.

Seriously, you and I have similar equipment for the same use. I wish I was physically able and young enough to handle a forging press and forge.

that thing has some age on it.
I picked up two of them , (the other is smaller..)
from a shoe shop (Dexter shoe) a few years a go
I started to set that one up but the timing is off and I haven't took the time to figure it out yet,,my,, how time fly's... :)

Why you lucky dog!You don't want for much do you?Very nice shop.I hope mine looks that good very soon!I didn't see anything I would call "junk".

if you're building build it at least 2 times the size you think you'll need.
I'm up to 2428 floor space and thinking I'm about ready to finish off
a 20x28 unfinished space..
I use finish off loosely,, I never finish off building compleatly
the wife would keal over if I did that... :D

Dan, that's really cool! I can even stop by there to get a tire fixed! Ol' Dan can git 'er done! OK, so forget the tire jab. I really like your shop, and your Wilton is my Wilton's twin. The old Wilton workhorses just keep plugging away, really dependable.

Cool idea!!! You could hook a computer up to it and then you'd have the world's first cnc controlled ABS Master Smith 90 degree Bend Test Stand! :D Now that's innovtion.

But seriously folks... it's amazing how much non knife related cool things you can build / make /fix / tear up when you got a shop. I love my shop. By all means expand it! Never have enough tools and machines.

Nice shop! I wasnt aware there was that much machinery in Maine! I thought all you Maine knifemakers were still knapping flint and making sinew handles. :footinmou :D

I bought it all Jeff..it's the only place to get your teath drilled to :D

I use the small 1/2" model for that work.. :)
