As of late I have been checking out other maker's websites. I have noticed that almost all the makers that forge have shop tours and allot of folder makers don't. Has anyone else notice this????

I have noticed some makers that I wanted to see there shop didnt have a shop tour. Hell..little Ol' me has one!

I dont know why but I like seeing other makers nast work bench ;)

My problem is I don't have much of a shop to tour. I'm set-up in a small portion of my basement and am kinda of embrassed to take pics :( I have plenty of available equipment to make knives the way I like, just not much room. Someday I hope to have an outbuilding just for knifework. Too broke right now. :grumpy:

Brian, if it will make you happy, I'll post a pic of my nasty looking workbench. :D

I don't have one at my web site but there are pictures on my web album site.
Looks like I need to update them.

I'm gonna get some pictures when I get through this round of equipment buying :D
I've got my grinder and I'm gonna finish setting it up this weekend. Then I'm gonna weld up a table for hot work and welding that I can roll around. Then you guys can see my shop. Which really is just a nasty workbench. I've got a bandsaw, drill press, beltsander, belt grinder,2 benchgrinders, and a vise all on the same damn bench! Switching tools is like playing one of those block stacking games :D

Here's a pic of my nasty looking workbench. I've been grinding the past two days and I didn't clean up yet. It's in the prime of nastiness. :D

Scott, looks like home to me. You got to look at it this way we can't all be a Higgy. Thank God. :D :D Ole Mr. Clean

Thanks IG. It seems the older I get the sloppier and more forgetful I get. It's easier to just leave things laying around for the next time they're needed.

I'm total opposite. If I can't have my shop all sorted out like the tray on a dentist's chair, I can't find a dang thing.

I'm a stock removal guy and I will definately have a shop tour as soon as i can have my site re done. :D

George,
Just jump on a Southwest and come to Louisville. I'll pick you up at the airport.
Not a big beer drinker but we pass right by the Class VI store at Ft Knox :)

When I get back this afternoon, I will take a couple pics. Been meaning to do so. I LOVE shop tour pics! Only problem is that I don't know how to size pics to post on BF's, so if someone could let me send them my pics, and resize them for me, I would greatly appreciate it... I've got a new BaderIII I want to show off!!!

Send them in and I'll try.

I've recently started trying to keep my shop clean and I gotta admit I'm getting hooked on it. Its not like Jeff's I've still got a few stray tools, but its kinda nice to be able to work on the bench top without finding a new place to move the pile. I even sweep the grit off onto the floor everytime I finish for the day. The floor doesn't get swept very often, and all the drawers and stuff are a mess, but I got a clean benchtop to work on now :D

I've tried taking pictures of my shop and it didn't work out too well - everything is lined up tight and in pictures it's hard to tell what I'm talking about. :D

But you can try.

Scott that's a nice looking KMG you got there, and that looks like the same hobby grinder I started on next to it. Your bench is no worse than anyone elses!

IG why didn't I expect you to be a shop slob?! I'm like Higgy, if it ain't where it belongs, I don't have it. When my shop gets where I can't find stuff it's time to put everything away and sweep it down. Ahhh... That's better. Now I can get some work done!

I had a shop full yesterday and it took me awhile to put all the stuff away last night. Three people can get out a lot of unrelated tools and strew them from here to kingdom come in no time flat. But Hey! "A place for everything and everything in its place." My Mom taught me that. Or was it my Dad. Anyway, they managed to hammer it in and now I'm freakin lost if stuff ain't put away right.

For whatever bizarre reason, I married a woman who's like IG - "Just look for it!" Well where do you freakin LOOK! Chicks. (And IG.)

:D

Thanks guys now I don't feel as bad about being sloppy. I'm working there almost everyday and it seems fruitless to keep putting things away. Besides it looks like I'm a "real" knifemaker  I just got back from a two day gunshow and making that mess paid off big time. :D Now I can get more supplies and make a new mess. :D
