Here is my parents and our lovely cat (emphaty) at the veranda

Shop 1:
The large workshop for the handle work, grinding, drilling and assembly etc.. Dad and I use this place, he paints (he is a painter - somewhat famous) and makes some fruit wine here.

Front with "Jango"
Me grinding the bevel of a claw type blade
The belt sander/grinder I have built.
Drilling fileing and assembly bench
Big table, for wood & corian work, glueing, drawing etc

Shop 2:
This little workshop is my blacksimiting and blade forging shop. I have built allmost everything in it including the building itself...
Propane forge and anvil (if you can see it :) )
Sword forge (unused for a couple of months)
Propane forge and my blower
Steel stock - some chrome and brass and corian

The tour to the beach (while walking with Jango) next. Hold on...

Yep, really nice tour! I think this kid is serious about making knives. One piece of advice, before you adopt IG, ask him about his famous HT Relish before he carries it into your shop! And also about the MSDA sheet. So, you gonna show us some knife pictures pretty soon, I hope.

Wow!!!
Is all of Turkey that nice? Yall wouldn't perhapse be in need of a local veternarian would ya?

Several years ago I was in Samos; the Greek Island just a a few miles across the Med. sea to the west of Turkey. What a really cool place! And while I was there, I rented a little house in an orange grove! You guys have them everywhere over there. that and olive groves as well. At the time, Greece and Turkey were not on good terms (they still are not but it's better than 20 years+ ago...) and it was a big hassle to visit Turkey from Samos even though I could see the Turkish mainland from the northeast side of the island. I wanted to go and visit so much but alas it will have to wait. We drank Uzo and the local "retsina" wine, and ate delicious fish and octopus every day. You my friend live in a very beautiful place! Someday I might show up in the Cresent Country.... :)

ps. I have some cool wood for you to use from here in the US of A... send me a mailing address and I'll get it out to you this next week.

regards, mitch

Thanks everyone...

Mitch, I would love to see you here as well. I can see Samos (Sisam we call) from our beach in a good weather. Yes there was some conflict and now there is a little but this is a political issue. As far as I know Turks and Greeks are the same in the Aegean shores. We live, eat, drink, listen to music, enjoy life same, believe the same god (named differently - so what :) ). Ouzo is raki, pilaki is pilaki, greek coffee is turkish coffee etc... I can say you have sort of visited Turkey as well.

I surely like to get some good wood to use; if you can send, you will make me happy (I am happy but will be happier :D ).

At this particular time of the year I am broke as I didnt make any knives to sell. I'm not able to order some wood from anywhere. Experimenting new stuff is good but .... you know..

I would also like to see of your life style and ofcourse your shop tour.

Best wishes,
Emre KIPMEN

ps: Email sent...

Galadduin,

A most beautiful area to live. I worked in Selivri, Turkey in 98, built a power plant on the coast of the Sea of Marmara (they say the best Roki is distilled their). :D

Your house reminds me of the place I stayed, and seeing the architecture brings back nice memories.

Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful home and country! Great shop, too. :D Thanks for sharing, and good luck to you selling a bunch more knives.

Beautiful place, kinda makes me want to visit Turkey, I am impressed with your ingenuity, building your shop from the ground up including your tools. Great tour!
