My wife got me CRKT Wasp for the holydays, and I had to return it today - just too darn small and too many sharp corners to carry comfortably.

I am looking for a nice folder and so far I've set my eye on two SOG beauties, S4 Tomcat and SV68 Vision

Which one you guys would prefer? Not for any particular task or anything - just to have another bad ass folder...

I like the looks of the Tomcat better. But, I believe the Vision has the better lock, and better blade steel. But I don't like the tanto shape. So, basically I'm saying nothing useful, and wasting bandwidth. But I hated to see a post with no replies. ;)

Love that Tomcat blade shape. Incidentally, I have no experience with either knife. So, another strike against me..... :(

Hmm, they both look nice, but I think I prefer the SV68 as it seems more streamline...never handled either of them, though.

Vision blade is .120" thick and made out of ATS-34, Rc 58-60
Tomcat blade is .200" thick (!) and made from AUS6, Rc 56-57

Both blades are 3.75" long, however Tomcat does not have any thumb studs on it, which does make it somewhat "longer" if you know what I mean.

Tomcat is a lot more solid weighting twice as much as Vision (8oz vs 4oz) and can hardly be carried around in a pocket.

For the most part, yes. There are some subtle differences in the mechanics of it such that it isn't and "axis lock". But from a use standpoint, essentially an axis lock.

The Tomcat is rock solid with a good positive mid-lock which can be closed one handed. This is a design award knife from a few years ago and is a good design although a bit dated. If you wanted them bad enough both thumbstuds and a belt clip could be added to bring it in vogue. There are rumours that the Tomcat will be discontinued in the near future but are not confirmed.Personally I'd choose it over the Vision for although I like the arc-lock I don't like tanto blades or serrations. It is expected that Sog will introduce new arc-lock versions at the Shot show next month so maybe the wise choice is to wait a while and see.
