Shops in Boston

Hello! Hope you enjoy your stay in Beantown. There's Stoddards in Copley place (near the Pru center) on the first floor near Godiva Chocolates. (Guess where I go when my girlfriend gets truffles). They have some great Randalls and the usual spread of benchmades etc.

There's also Chesapeake Knife & Tool at Quincy markets/Faneuil Hall but it's tucked away in a basement location down some stairs near the Discovery Store, Crabtree & Evelyn and Origins bodyshop (again guess where I go when my girlfriend is buying her soaps & stuff).

Being such a liberal city in such a liberal state (Peoples Republik of Massachusetts) we don't have much in dealers of neat bladeware ...sigh...

Stoddard's has a lot of custom hand made knives, but not much of a Benchmade dealer they are. You'll get JW Smith, Bob Lum (the hand made version), John Kubasek, and many more.

Enjoy your visit !

Thanks guys, I am looking forward to my trip, well kinda I'll be working like a dawg I think so my downtime is going to be minimal so I am hoping to sneak off and caress some steel as a stress relief.
I am staying at the Westin Copley which I am guessing is somewhere near Stoddards/Copley Place.

A knife shop in the same building as where I will be living for a week - sounds like a recipe for disaster or rather financial ruin!

I know of a great one! On the south end of town is a place called Quincy Market, right next to Fanuiel Hall. It's an outdoor shopping center and it's very nice. It consists of the main shops on street level, some on the second floor, and some underground...
What I'm getting at is that one of those underground stores is Chesapeake Knife and Tool. It's on the same side of the courtyard as Vicoria's Secret, I don't know why I remember that....;)
Have fun in Boston, it's a grand town!

oh yeah, i handled that bob lum at stodards... oooh yeah that sh*t's smooth. like budda. amazing. if you're around take a minute to handle that custom bob lum.

Pete

oh yeah, apparently there's another stoddards around someplace? i heard it from 411 or something

There are 2 more Stoddards, but the one in the Copley is the only one that has selection on handmade knives.

If you're into shopping, another stoddards is located in the Chestnut Hill mall ground floor. Right across the street from the Atrium mall...another wonderful place to blow too much money. It's on Route 9 a little west of town. I just went there and confirmed, no handmades or customs as per beluga.:(

Boston Doesn't have too many knife shops. Aside from the ones mentioned above, the only other shop I know of is a cutlery shop (forgot the name) in "Downtown Crossing." Its a main shopping area of Boston, accessible by the subway (called the "T"). It wasn't very interesting however, I'd stick with Stoddards.

One really good thing about Chesapeak K+T at Fanueil Hall/Quincy Market? Its surrounded by really good bars an restaurants, so if you're working hard, that's a great destination. Bear in mind though that most of Quincy Market closes pretty early- 8:00 I think.

Enjoy Boston- I love this town!
