I have a friend who is spending a few weeks in the US in Chicago, South Bend (IN) and Bozeman (MT) and might traipse along to a bricks and mortar store to browse for blades. Could anyone recommend stores in these towns?

Thanks v much in advance.

I used to live in Bozeman, but haven't been back in a decade. The Powderhorn (a sporting goods store) on Main Street had a decent selection. Bozeman's a great place to visit. I hope you get to tag along.

I think the guy who runs www.knifeoutlet.com has a store around University park Mall in Mishawaka, right next to South Bend. It may just be kitchen cutlery, I'm sot sure. Send him an e-mail to find out for sure.

What do Chicago, South Bend, and Bozeman have in common?

Kinda in the Chicago area...
Mega Sports
23248 W. Lincoln Hwy.
Plainfield Il. 60544
(815) 439-4867

1 mile west of I-55 (exit 257) on Rt. 30

They are a fairly large gun store with an indoor range, and they also have a decent collection of brands... including; Benchmade, Kershaw, Cold Steel, CRKT, Buck, KaBar, Spyderco, and others. They have all sorts of other outdoor related stuff. Great store, if I ever win big in the lottery, I will be visiting here.
Good Luck,
Mongo

That's great, thank you all!

In answer to the question as to what these towns have in common, it's institutes of learning and specifically courses on invasive freshwater organisms. Bet you found that interesting!

In Chicago, just west of the Loop (downtown) underneath the Lake St. El line, at around 800 W. Lake is someplace like "Northwestern Cutlery." They have a lot of production knives, sometimes some customs, and a huge kitchen selection.

Chicago: NW Cutlery... nice selection, not much give on prices, though. Also, Shore Galleries on Devon Ave in Lincolnwood has a nice representation as does Erehwon on North and Clyborn. Last one is much closer to downtown. Good luck.
