Hey, so... I live in Philly, and have been to a couple of the gun shops and to I. Goldberg, looking at knives, guns, surplus stuff, etc., but I haven't really found much that's good.
Can anybody recommend a real surplus store in the area? Or a particular shop that has a decent selection?

Thanks!

I'm with you bro. Go to Maine. I was up there with the family on vacation this summer and there were shops everywhere. Saw two nice Randall's for $200 each, and with the kids and wife nagging me to go, I snoozed on them - what an idiot!

Here in NJ, Wal-Mart put them all out of business. There's nobody left that I know of. Like most things these days, if Wal-Mart doesn't carry it, it doesn't exist. You can have your choice of the "people's" knives - Gerber, Leatherman, and a few Kershaws at Wal-Mart and that's about it.

I live near Harry's Army and Navy, and Sportsmen's Center in NJ and they are pretty much a waste of time. Harry's has by far the best selection - some Benchmades, Lone Wolfs, a couple of Kabar's, some CRKT, and a bunch of Brownings and Vic's. *YHAWN* That's the best I've been able to dig up. Instead of searching for a good cutlery shop, we'd be better off spending the time grinding old files into real knives. Please share if you find somewhere!

On 611N in Horsham across from Willow Grove Naval Air Base there's a gun shop that sells Spyderco, Kershaw, Benchmade and others I can't remember. Good store.

Also on 202N in New Britain there's a Target World that sells Spyderco, Kershaw, Benchmade and others.

In New Hope on there's Fred Eisen Leather that sells high end customs and production knives including Benchmade Gold Class.

All three stores are in Bucks County.

Fred Eisen - How could I forget. He does have a nice collection in his New Hope shop. One thing though, if he offers you a special price, or any price for that matter, get it in writing because he won't remember or necessarily give it to you at that price in the future.

There's also the Goth shop across the street and North bound about a block from Fed's place in New Hope. They have some interesting stuff, but not collectables.

Country Knives on Route 340 in Intercourse, Lancaster County, PA. Wonderful folks, beautiful shop, good selection. Unfortunately, MSRP all the way.
