Off Topic Shops/makerspaces/co-ops in Raleigh

Hi guys, I currently live in Raleigh, going to undergrad at NCSU, and planning on grad school here as well. My shop is in Hickory NC, 2.5 hours away. I rent and have nowhere to work. Is anyone familiar with places in the triangle area I could set up shop, share a workspace and bring my tools in, etc? I've only been able to find a few woodworking makers spaces but no metalworking or forging ones. If anyone has ideas or useful information I am all ears.

I would attend a few meetings of the local knifemakers groups, hammer-ins, etc. and see who you can collaborate with. The issue is right now almost no one is holding meetings, hammer-ins, or shop visits.

Depending on your housing budget, you may also consider renting a small house a bit farther from the campus that has a garage or large shed. You could share the rent with some roommates.
