Took the day off as today is my birthday. Took the better half and our dogs and went up to the mountains for a hike. I planned on stopping for a little picnic as well but it was a little hotter than I expected it to be so we just did the hike and then headed back to the car. It was a beautiful day, but we were getting up around 90.

I was really looking forward to building a fire out in mountains/desert with my BK7... unfortunately no-go. At least he got to come along for the ride.

Hey Uncle!

It's my birthday also and I would swap places with you in a heartbeat right now.

Weathering out Hurricane Sandy in Northern New Jersey and she a bitch!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!!!! I played with my BK9 all day on my birthday last summer. It was a good day.

happy birthday to both you guys, here in philly its been dark all day with high winds and loads of rain. im sure jersey is gettin pounded!

I lived down there through high school, and my parents are still there. From the looks of the photos I'd say you live on the other side of the valley than I did (or at least thats where you're hiking).

Happy birthday man :).

Thanks guys. ocnLogan, yeah, I'm in the far NW valley. This was up in the White Tanks. Good times.

Awesome man. The closest I've come to that area is offroading the back way up to crown king. I am from the SE valley, so when I went out it was into the saguaro lake area/supersition/appache junction.

Other than the fact that you didn't get to use the 7 this trip, how are you liking it? That is one of those beckers that I think I'll get someday. Not sure when that will happen, but I'm sure it will.

Happy B-Day man! Thanks for sharing some pics, I like your 550 storage solution of tucking it under the sheath pouch's elastic!

I love the 7. I actually waited a while to get it because I had the 2, 4, and 9 already... but I made the jump. When I first got it... I was sort of 'egh' about it... with the black on black... just felt too tactical... Stripping it and adding micarta with stainless bolts really made it fell like totally different knife. It's beefy, but still plenty nimble... doesn't feel like you're throwing a hammer around like the 9 can sometimes. The 7 is probably going to be the first one that I get a nice leather sheath from Sagewood for. I would say not to hesitate with it. Great stuff for sure.

Thanks! Yeah, it's just a small piece.. maybe 15feet or so looped up and wrapped tightly. It fits really well right there. It was kind of just an unintentional accident one time and I realized that it fit nicely. ha!
