I'm looking for a light, fixed blade knife, with a blade length of 4" or less, durable, and under about $150. Does anyone have any recommendations?

It would be used for a variety of things, chopping, possibly gutting fish, and various other everyday tasks, opening letters etc...

Also, I'm sorry if I put this in the wrong section, I'm not quite sure which section it should be under.

As it turns out I've actually got one of those as my deer skinning knife haha. I was looking at Mora's , what do you think of those?

Mora's
Good: inexpensive/cost efficient, good steels, takes a good edge, doesn't matter if it gets lost or damaged.
Bad: sheath, you can "feel" that they are an inexpensive knife, not full tang (most of them) so a not suggested for (heavier) batonning, and Way too light to be an effective chopper.

For that price range, I would actually look on the exchange for a custom. Something like this:

If you want a stock knife, look at the Becker bk16, though it had a 4 3/8" blade, if not that then a Becker bk14.

Add $30 and get a Task C. I did just that - in desert Camo to boot. 4.33 blade.

Bark River makes some very nice small EDC fixed blades, and you should be able to get something in the $150-and-under range. Worth a look, IMHO.

Bradford guardian 3 or bark river adventurer

With that said I like the bradford more. Their heat treat and build quality is outstanding

Thanks to everyone for the replies, I really quite like the Gryphon knives, that's essentially exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you for all the help!

Heard ya the first time.

Posted that pic for my pleasure,.. because you can count on me, to pleasure myself..

I've been using a Fallkniven Kolt for one of my EDC knives, and it is rapidly becoming my favorite EDC. The handle initially felt a little short, but I'm finding that this actually gives me more grip options than a longer handle does. The sheath is definitely lacking, but with a decent custom kydex sheath it would be a fantastic neck knife. I haven't gotten around to sending the knife to a sheathmaker because I don't want to be without the thing for that long. The longer I carry it the better I like it. I have large hands, and it still works very well for me.

I carry the knife in the factory sheath either in my pants pocket, or in the chest pocket of my shirt (heavy canvas-duck cloth shirts with deep chest pockets). It's easier to clean than a folder, and it is a pretty streamlined little thing so it feels like a smaller package than may of the folders I carry. It's not really much thicker than some of my folders, and it is narrower than most of the folders I own.

I also occasionally carry an Fallkniven F1 in a broad kydex sheath in my back pocket. The width of the sheath makes the whole package very secure and the F1 puts all of my folders to shame in terms of heavy-use tasks. I find it is fairly good at food prep, too, as long as the items I'm slicing up are not larger in diameter than the blade length. My wife likes a 2-1/2" paring knife for everything, but I prefer an 8" blade for most long-duration kitchen work.

Anyway, the Fallkniven KK (Kolt Knife) can be had for less than $150, and the blade design is beautiful. I can't recommend it highly enough.

You will be extremely pleased with it...It DOES sound like it's what you want.

Let us know.

This is my new little EDC blade. You can see the size comparison to a SAK Cadet. I don't have exact specs, as I have not measured it and I ordered it on a whim. It's made of O1 and has some nice simple G10 scales.

I'm looking into picking up an ESEE Candiru.

You could get two Izula II's for that much, and have some change left over.
