Just received my $40 villager from Uncle Bill today. It is 13.5" and 1 lb. on the dot. Fit and finish are best described as servicable, which is expected. The blade, while not polished is ground very well and seems to be very hard. The handle is roughly finished and seems to be something like rosewood. It is very comfortable in my small hands. Fits me better than any of my other khuks. The buttplate is brass and is nailed on. It didn't loosen under hard use.
I was surprised at how well this rather small khuk cut right out of the box. Without even wiping it off I took off for the trees. Cutting limbs up to 1" with one cut is easy, even for me. To test the hardening of the blade, I cut an old hickory axe handle in half. No deformation, chipping, or loss of sharpness. Man this thing is a cutting machine!
The sheath is well made, of the new leather and fits just right. The frog is riveted instead of laced, with 6 hollow steel rivets. I expect no problems. As a matter of fact the sheath itself is probably a step above most of the HI sheaths I have received. The dye doesn't rub off, the leather is shiny, and the tacks at the mouth of the sheath don't scratch the blade.

If you can't tell from my review, I'm extremely satisfied.:D This is the Khuk I won't hesitate to grab and throw in my truck, or take to the woods or the yard. This is a working man's Khukuri, the Buck 110 of Nepal!

Thanks for your time,
Steve

Many thanks for good report from the field. This is the way 98% of the village models work and why we guarantee them. Even the partial tang handles almost never fail. They should be good for five years or so of hard use and if they last that long nobody ever complains.
