short fighting knive with leather rings

This knife made of rwl 34 very hard and sharp. The handle exists out of brass and leather rings for a better grip. The wood is hardwood.

I do like it. However, even though it has the leather for grip, I believe that a fighting knife should have a guard. Without one, there is too much of a chance of having your hand slip up to the blade.

What is the hardwood that you used? Do you have a photo of the sheath?

I also believe it's essential for a fighter to have a guard, but more to stop an opponent's blade from being deflected into your hand rather than stopping slippage.

Hmm... looks Scandinavian. Puukos were fighting knives as well as utility knives, so it could be period. I like it!
