I love living vicariously through you guys and checking out all the pictures you post. It's one of the best parts of my mornings. :)

Pictures don't always show the angle that I want to see though... And sometimes color, size, and dimensions can be distorted. To get that info, I usually turn to YouTube reviews. It can suck to have to wade through a 15 - 30 minute video to find the size of a knife in hand, or to see a particular angle, etc... Only to find out that the reviewer doesn't end up handling the knife, or the low resolution/compression ate all of the details I was trying to see.

I was thinking I would start posting embedded, 30 - 60 second, high resolution videos to go along with the pictures I post. Is that something you guys would be interested in seeing... Or maybe it's just a waste of time?

As examples (set to a high resolution for best viewing):

REK Sparrow

Spartan Harsey Damasteel (custom)

Olamic Cutlery Honduran Rosewood/S90V Whippersnapper

Rick Hinderer XM-18 3" Wharncliffe

Olamic Cutlery Timascus/Damasteel Largo Busker

I have no interest in videos. In my opinion good well framed, and composed stills do a much better job of showing the knife. With a still I can study the detail for as long or as little as I like. With a video just when it gets to what I want to se it is gone. I have to stop it rewind, stop rewind. It's not worth the trouble. I just skip videos, and most threads that ware heavy with them.

That's my opinion.
O.B.

I'm just really happy when everyones' still photos show up correctly here ! ;)

Plus watching a video clip takes extra energy compared to a pic , which is a complete composition ...instantly available at a glance .

Great input. :)

Sounds like I might just be sticking with pics.

For sales of flipper knives, I include a video clip that kind of goes over the whole knife and also demonstrates the action. For non-flipper knives, I find it not especially helpful.

I’m quite technically illiterate but photos seem to be enough of a sore subject around here.
But hey if those that know are all good with it I say why not.

Groovy idea, I dig it.

....it could be helpful, but what one person finds interesting could well be a waste of time to another.
No auto play.
I'd rather choose to watch if I'm interested.
I can just imagine a long list of ignored members due to endless auto play videos.
.....include a cat and I'm done.😴

Videos make me dizzy and take too long to view. So, I never watch them.

A few good pics of a knife are sufficient for me.
