So I decide to get off my lazy butt yesterday cause it was so nice out(for here). I've been trying to heal my recently repaired knee and hiking seems to help. My goal was to make it to a beach northeast of monashka bay http://www.visitusa.com/alaska/beaches/monashkabaybeach.htm I wanted to make a fire and try to gather myself. I brought my blackbird(which did great), my schrade scaxe3(didn't need or use but works pretty darn good) and my Survive! GSO-10(not sure about it yet, plus I chipped the edge chopping?crap!). Here's a couple pics.

3/29,
You can kinda make out the Cornelia Marie from "deadliest catch" on the right, it's her home port here.

The main test subjects today, I'm not doing a test write up... Just a couple pics

Fleming 3v blade did unexpectedly better than a hollow ground blade does for me.. I love it

My svord peasant and mini came along for giggles, the mini bit the tip of my pinky off yesterday. Baryonyx sharpened the s*** outa them!

The bark river knecker 2 impressed me, not surprised but still impressed.

My little spot to make a fire, out of the wind!

A short clip throwing this hawk for its first time(fifth throw actually).

This is the walking stick I cut out and stripped with the hawk. I need a stick cause the trail was slick in many spots and my ACL isn't fully healed.

Another shot of the Survive GSO-10.

Took some beckers out for some air

And the fire I made with the steel that helped. Light my fire mora, gossman 3v polaris(my new favorite) and the old kabar kukri(cheap yet tuff)

..working on it William! I will go on a walk tomorrow if weather is permitting. I can snap knife pics too :)

Snow, open water and a fire! Beautiful sights all. Thanks for the visuals.

wow, alaska...awesome views! please hike often and post trip reports here :)

sorry to hear about the ontario and survive! knives chipping. never dealt with them before - hopefully customer service will take care of it quickly.

Thanks! Survive blade has tiny bits of damage, blackbird was not so strong. I've got another blade coming in that will be tougher for my clumsiness. It just snowed again and I took the week off, so we'll see what I came up with

wow.. great pics.. i'd love to live there or even visit! thanks for sharing. what are the scales you have on the BK7? i like em

Thanks for asking. I shaped them with hand tools n sand paper, minus the holes(cordless drill). They are stabilized maple burl in black, got em from the burl source I think. Added some furniture oil to darken maybe it gives extra protection too.
