Anyone good at guessing the size of that bear?

Also does anyone know what was rooting up the ground in these photos? Last winter Virginia Game posted that there were a family of seven pigs on the property. But I don't have any experience with pigs.

Thank you.

very cool pics!
no experience with tracks,but
if you make a footprint next to the bears
and see how far down you sank,
that might tell you how heavy that bear was
impressive lookin size to me!

Great knives as well
Thanks for posting!

great pics.

whet is the knife to the right of the kukri in the first group shot?

i see you have a ruger gp-100, i have the blued 6 inch version, great gun

I believe the knife your asking about is a Koyote LBK (little big knife). The knife has a thick handle which adds some weight to it. Its funny, every time I dont have my GP 100, I see some wild stuff that made wish I had it on me. Like a 5 and half foot rattle snake and on opening day of deer season I was just getting settled in and repositioning my chair and I look up and there is a black bear about 20 paces away looking at me. My muzzleloader was resting on my pack and grabbed it and he ran off.

thats some scary stuff, a five foot rattlesnake? thats huge! i hope you didnt kill it (unless of course you were in harms way)

whats the price on the lbk?

thanks,
william

Chistof is the maker the LBK. He has page in the knifemaker section here. I can't remember exactly what it cost.

Thanks for the pics. I don't know how big the bear would have been, as I have only seen a few in the wild, and never any tracks that I stumbled upon. Although it does look to be of a decent size.

Great pics, I always like looking to see what all tracks i can find too.

Great pics buddy, those Bear tracks are very cool !

To size the bear you measure the distance across the front pad and simply add 1. This will give you a rough “square” of the bear. So if you measure the bear track and it came out at 5″inches across, you would add 1 and could guesstimate that bear was roughly a 6′ foot bear.

Ah ha!
Nice to know that
sure beats the "make a footprint next to it and see how far down you sink" method :D
