My hiking partner and I went on a small excersion to take some photos of the BRKT Mini-Northstar that arrived today. I used it for some notches and feather sticks prior to these photos and I'm very happy with it.

Thanks for the trade, link.

Excellent, my friend! And great pix!

Glad you like the blade -- it really is a great little bushcraft knife.

Georgeous dog too, btw! What breed is she?

Cool to see an Aussie Bluey in the snow - in upstate NY. Sure is a long way from the dust of most Australian sheep stations (or now is it the mud).

btw is that a standard handle on the mini North Star or custom?

Yeah what handle wood is that? It's gorgeous!

Thanks, I'm really enjoying it so far. She is an Australian Cattle Dog and she'll go to the woods with me all day, every day if I let her!

Yeah, she's a long way from home, that's for sure! We have a few head of cattle, some horses and chickens and ducks to keep her happy though! We've never trained her on herding, it just came natural. Pretty cool to watch.

The handle material is an option from BRKT called Birdseye Maple. I believe it is listed under their "Exotic Woods" section.

That is a beautiful dog..I wish I could take my Pits walking..but I bet they'd see a rabbit and I would end up "belly sledding" thru the briars while cussing incoherntly! Silly question, Do you find the finely polished handles to be a drawback when they get wet, muddy or messy? (AIE cleaning fish or game?) I ask because my current EDC'er has a plastic/kevlar handle and it was so slick I took a wood rasp to it to give it a rougher, more grippy feel.

Those aussies are very smart. A friend use to own one and we'd take it squirrel hunting. We would just walk down the levee and let the dog work. She would tell us which trees had squirrels.

great pics man.. love the knives and the pooch... those Queensland's are awesome dogs...:D

Cool pics and nice dog. The MNS, that I happened to get from mtnfolk, is my favorite Barkie. Mine is curly maple with mosiac pins, very similar to your birdseye maple (?). In fact, when I saw your pics, a brief stab of panic went through me: "Oh no, how did this guy get my knife? Did I sell it off in that last big chaotic round?"
